School Update + Gifts from Moya

As some of you guys know, I graduated in May 2018 with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. I am back in school now, doing my second degree in Social Work. I still attend the University of British Columbia, which was my top choice because I can commute from home and I have friends there.

I’m done my first week and I’m enjoying it a lot. I want to become a social worker, and I feel really good and confident about this decision. 🙂 It’s a two-year program and I have all my classes with the same 50~ classmates.

I had lunch with Moya on campus today and she gave me gifts! These are gifts from her Taiwan trip. I love stickers – I stick them on my transit card, notebooks, electronic devices, and letters I write to friends. I also love No Face from Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away, so I really like the No Face pen. Lastly, I got bubble tea flavoured chocolate. I’ve never seen that before and I love bubble tea. Thank you, Moya! ❤

Who else didn’t cry while watching Violet Evergarden? Getting called stone cold and heartless was quite amusing. Hahaha! Still, it was a lovely anime with beautiful visuals.

I bought a dress today.

I prefer colder weather, but cold grass jelly tastes so good in summer. I’ve moved on from drinking grass jelly drinks and now I’m eating the actual grass jelly. I add brown sugar and hot water and it tastes yummy after cooling it in the fridge.

Not my picture

I know a lot of people add it to their milk teas. I like that too, but I usually just eat out of the bowl like that. LOL

Yup, it’s the Attack on Titan Season 3 opening. I know some people don’t like it because it’s not Linked Horizon. It sounds amazing to me.

Sick but Happy

Some of you guys know that I hate the sun and heat. Well, a couple of days ago I got a fever and it didn’t go away until I spent the night downstairs on the sofa. It returned after I spent the next day in my room… probably because my room is on the third floor. I also hate winter so RIP me.

That’s why I’ve decided to stay indoors for the next few days. I cancelled my plans for today and watched a lot of One Piece. I feel a lot better now but in the beginning I couldn’t eat solid foods so I just ate almond flavoured tofu LOL. I really like it!

Back in July 2017 I wrote a blog post on a DIY idea for your room. (Click here.) Now I have photos! The left one is a polaroid of my friends and I in a family pose LOL. On the right is a picture I printed at Walmart off my phone. It’s from the time I went to a concert performed by EXO.

Thoughts and food.

I’m starting to read Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare and the famous line, “Et tu, Brute?” has me shaken.

The theme of betrayal happens all the time in literature and in anime too. Take the song Vogel im Käfig from Attack on Titan, for example. When I listen to the song, I feel anger, betrayal, sadness, disbelief and acceptance. The song plays during my favourite scene in the anime, the betrayal.

Quotes pop up on the loading screen of a game I’m playing. This quote in particular was very interesting. It was cool seeing a quote from a novel I own.

“If you want to keep a secret, you must also hide it from yourself.” – George Orwell, 1984

Don’t worry, my life is mundane. Every time I write about a serious topic like this, there are always a couple of people who ask me if I’m okay, or if there’s anything wrong. I do appreciate the concern, but you have to understand that I think a lot. I’m not blindly consuming content and not thinking about it afterwards! No, I think about the things I read and watch.

P.S. I’m learning how to skateboard. Balancing is not an issue but I need to practice turning.

Another Update

I borrowed a few DS games from a friend. I played the first Ace Attorney game and finished the first case in 5-10 minutes! I’m not sure if it was just super easy or if I am just good. It’s probably just easy.

I am proud of myself. I took a full course load (five courses) and on top of that, did lab work as a Psych research assistant, held the title of Vice President Internal of an international psychology honours society, and mentored a child on a weekly basis. I woke up at 6 AM every Monday to Friday and one of my classes ended at 8 PM. That’s not what I’m really proud of, though. Lol. I have my final grades for all my courses this term and I didn’t get anything lower than an A-. I’m proud that I did well on top of all of those extracurricular activities. Some days I got four hours of sleep because I had to study. u_u

Remember my Bubble Tea review post? I would like to make a couple of changes! Firstly, Little Tea House in Metrotown – I did give it a poor review and I don’t regret it. I never sugar coat my reviews. HOWEVER — one of my close friends went there recently and said that the bubble tea taste improved a lot. They renovated the place and I think it’s worth giving a second chance! I know I’ll be going there again to see for myself.

Secondly… Big Orange in Metrotown – I didn’t talk about this bubble tea place much in that blog post so I’ll talk about it here. It used to be my favourite bubble tea place in Metrotown. Unfortunately, I had a poor experience there. The manager was highly unprofessional and I don’t see myself going there in the near future. Of course, this is only specific to the Metrotown location so I’ll still be going to their other franchise locations. You know me guys… I am generally pretty nice but I will say something if I feel like it. I do what I want on my blog!

Life Update

20180106_140000-1.jpg

I’m in a couple more polaroid photos but I don’t have good photos of them.

For my electives this term I’m taking Comics and Anime. I’m excited for Comics because I will have a chance to improve my sketching and have it actually count as homework. Anime class is good too because reading manga (ex. Ouran High School Host Club) is my homework! Plus, we will watch some anime films during class time like Kimi no Na Wa.

I also got the Kiki’s Delivery Service cosplay from my Secret Santa. ^^ I don’t have the Kimi no Na Wa bracelet/hair tie but I will still cosplay as Mitsuha one day. I’m still waiting for my eyeshadow to arrive so makeup for cosplays will have to wait.

Thanks to everyone who wished me luck on my search for strawberry water. I found it again, and bought 12 bottles, lol.

Happy (early) New Year

I’ve been spending a lot of time with my family and it’s great. My mom treats me the best. ^^

Although, sometimes she is a little too nosy. I don’t like telling anyone the details of my personal life.

I probably won’t draw for a while but I’ll repeat myself here since a few people have told me the same thing: to colour my drawings. No. I am focusing on sketching because I want to improve on that. Colouring also takes a long time. I don’t want to spend most of my time on drawing as it is just one of my many hobbies.
