I started a new Taiwanese drama called No. 1 For You today and I’m almost done watching it. It happens to all the shows I love – Once I start something good, I will finish it as fast as I can. I think I’ll make a list of the shows I’ve binged and post it on the blog. The drama is a BL, by the way. Both main leads are very attractive.
Anyway, I loved one of the songs in the drama. Then I found out that the actor that plays the main character (Shu Yi) sang the song. I also found out that he is half-Japanese and is fluent in it. In the drama, Shu Yi sometimes talks in Japanese, so this makes more sense.
The song made me cry. It’s the perfect song for this drama.
I’ve already reached both my follower and blog hit goals, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to do with this blog. I just really like the song, so I wanted to blog about it. I think that’s the direction I will take… to share the things I like and a bit about my life. 🙂 Thank you.
I’ve been feeling quite jaded with society lately re: panic buying due to the coronavirus. I.e. fights at the stores, stocking up baby wipes because hand sanitizers are sold out and leaving nothing behind for families with babies. I’ve lost some faith in humanity because of those people who resell toilet paper, face masks, and hand sanitizers. When I read the news, it feels like an animal world. Every man for himself.
I’ve always been interested in human nature. I have a Psychology degree but I thought it wasn’t enough. I’ve examined portrayals of human nature depicted in novels, plays, textbooks, manga, dramas, films, music and video games. I think that I was secretly hoping to find something that said, humans are not selfish. You can believe in people.
Unfortunately, the recent news has not helped hahaha. Instead, I felt more pessimistic than I already was!
Then I came across two songs by Chinese artists I love. The first is my favourite singer, Hua Chenyu. I’ve written about him multiple times. The second is Wang Yibo, who starred in my favourite Chinese drama, The Untamed. Their songs inspire hope and give comfort for everybody around the world regarding the recent events. Their songs are on Spotify.
Hua Chenyu 华晨宇 – You Have To Believe This Is Not The Last Day 你要相信,这不是最后一天
This is a powerful song. Hua Hua writes about believing that this is not the last day and that better days will come. [English translation lyric YouTube video link here]
Wang Yibo 王一搏 – We Stay Together 因为我们在一起
Yibo has a calming singing voice and he makes you feel less anxious about everything. [English translation lyric YouTube video here]
Thanks Hua Hua and Yibo for using your talents and influence to instil hope in people (like me).
Thanks for the nomination, Yomu. Yomu explicitly wrote in his post that he expects a response from me, so I guess I have no choice.

WRITE SOMETHING ABOUT A FANDOM OR FRANCHISE YOU LOVE.
I like The Untamed/Mo Dao Zu Shi fandom. It’s nice to see people cosplay in hanfu. It’s also nice to listen to covers of the songs played by traditional Chinese instruments.
TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT A CHARACTER YOU LOVE.
I love Tanjiro from Demon Slayer. I wrote about how he inspires me (you can read about that here). He’s kind to everyone, including demons, and he never gives up.
TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT A PIECE OF MUSIC YOU LOVE.
My favourite anime opening is the first Tokyo Ghoul opening. It’s Unravel by TK from Ling tosite Sigure. It’s perfect. It’s everything I have ever wanted in a song. It suits my tastes in music perfectly.
WRITE SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF YOU LOVE!
I think that I have good taste in shows. Okay, that sounds biased but other people tell me that I give good recommendations. It makes me feel like I am doing a good job at reviewing anime and doing my part of introducing good shows to people, especially underrated ones. It’s a shame when good anime goes unnoticed.
I think I’m also good at getting people to watch the shows I like. I’ve gotten my classmates, anime club friends, and blogger friends to watch Kaiji and many more shows.
NOMINATIONS
Once again, I’m opening this up to anyone who wants to do this.
Spotify keeps record of the songs and artists you’ve listened to the most each year. Here is my Spotify Wrapped for 2019.
In September of this year, I went to a Man With A Mission concert. I listened to their music A LOT for over a week afterwards.
My #1 artist on Spotify was Joker Xue. I interpreted the song meaning of 動物世界 ‘Animal World’ in a blog post.
Al from Slice of Alfredo! runs a podcast and it’s on Spotify. You should check it out. 🙂 He listened to a song by BiSH in one of them (I requested the artist!).
Mm, I would say that Spotify only has about 60% of the songs I like. It also doesn’t have many songs by my favourite singers, Hua Chenyu and Kwang-ho Hong (they aren’t available in my region, at least).
Synopsis: Tuesday ran away from home to pursue her dream in music. She meets Carole, who also has a passion for music. They become good friends and together, they make their mark into the music industry dominated by AI in this metropolis on Mars.
Thoughts: I really, really recommend Carole & Tuesday. I think it’s such a well made anime. What struck me the most about this anime was definitely the music. Well over twenty songs were released, which is a lot of content! I love all the songs so much and I think that some songs are so meaningful.
You really come to like the characters. I like that the show did not just focus on Carole and Tuesday. A lot of the other characters got the spotlight and we got to look into their struggles and life challenges. The art style took a while to get used to, but now it feels refreshing.
I’ve cried a couple of times while watching this anime. I think the build up to the last episode was excellent and it felt really emotional. It really tied everything together, and it made a huge impact to the series as a whole. The theme of music being universal and having the ability to influence the lives of people across the world was interesting to watch, especially during the period of political unrest in the show. I can’t stop raving about this anime. Give it a try.

What kinds of posts would you like to see more from me? You know me, I don’t have a schedule for blogging and post whatever I feel like! I’m open to ideas and suggestions though. ^O^

Listening to: 林宥嘉 Yoga Lin – 天真有邪 Spoiled Innocence
I’m watching seven shows from this season so… the Spring 2019 Anime First Impressions post will be up within the next few days. Sorry for the delay.
I’ve been busy these past few weeks. I’ve been studying for finals and working on final assignments for uni. The thing is, I’ve been working four days a week and went to practicum two days a week. I also interviewed for a research assistant job. It’s kind of tiring to write papers after an eight-hour work day…
The good news? I finished my practicum hours yesterday and I got the job I interviewed for. Now I have two jobs. I still have a final exam and an assignment to finish, but I’m excited for future cosplays and blog posts. I have a list of cosplays and blog posts I want to write.
I posted My Top Anime Openings list, so I had to do an ending songs list! These aren’t in any particular order.
1. Aimer – Dare ka, Umi wo. (Terror in Resonance)
Aimer is my favourite lady singer. I love her deep voice. The visuals for the song are perfect because I also feel that I am drowning when I listen. I guess I like haunting songs. I recommend listening to the full version.
2. Aimer – Akane Sasu (Natsume Yuujinchou Go)
You should watch Natsume’s Book of Friends!
3. Aimer – Ref:rain (After the Rain)
This song suits After the Rain perfectly.
4. Maximum The Hormone – Zetsubou Billy (Death Note Ending 2)
I didn’t like this song when I first heard it (I was 11) but I like it now.
I wrote a post called, My Top 10 Anime Openings back in August 2017. My music tastes have changed! I’ve also watched more anime since then. These aren’t in any particular order, except for Unravel at the top of the list.
1. TK from Ling Tosite Sigure – Unravel (Tokyo Ghoul)
This is not only my favourite anime opening, but it’s also my favourite song of all time. I love everything about Unravel. I love the lyrics, TK’s unique voice, and the instrumental music. I also love the visuals of the Tokyo Ghoul opening.
Who is that inside of me?
Here in this broken-down, broken-down world,
you laugh, without seeing a thing
I’m just so damaged, I hold my breath and freeze
…
In this twisted world, I’m gradually growing transparent and vanishing
2. Ling Tosite Sigure – Abnormalize (Psychopass)
I really love TK’s voice.
3. TK from Ling Tosite Sigure – katharsis (Tokyo Ghoul:re Season 2)
4. MAN WITH A MISSION – My Hero (Inuyashiki)
Inuyashiki is one of my favourite anime.
5. Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas – Let Me Hear (Parasyte)
Anime openings are shortened versions of songs but the best part of Let Me Hear (1:45) is cut in the anime opening. =_= Here’s the music video.
6. Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas – Chase the Light! (Kaiji Season 2)
If you like this song, you should listen to the full version.
7. BiSH – PAiNT it BLACK (Black Clover Opening 2)
I didn’t discover the idol group through anime openings. I think they’re really cool. I recommend their song, GiANT KiLLERS.
Other anime openings:
Vickeblanka – Black Rover (Black Clover Opening 3)
amazarashi – Sora ni Utaeba (My Hero Academia Season 2 Opening 2)
Kenshi Yonezu – Peace Sign (My Hero Academia Opening 2)
Dean Fujioka – History Maker (Yuri!!! on Ice)
Nightmare – The World (Death Note)
The Oral Cigarettes – Kyouran Hey Kids! (Noragami Aragato)
Ritsuko Okazaki – For Fruits Basket (Fruits Basket)
I’ll also be posting My Top Anime Ending Songs list! A lot of people ask me about the music I listen to. I would say that I like songs if the singer has a really nice voice, if there are drums, or if it has a unique sound.
