My Favourite flumpool Songs

flumpool is a Japanese band. I’ve liked them since 2009! They did the theme songs for the 2008 Jdrama, Bloody Monday. In 2010, they did the theme song for Bloody Monday Season 2. flumpool’s new songs are still amazing. I love them soo much! I especially love Ryuta Yamamura. He’s the vocalist.

Another thing I like about flumpool is that they have songs in Chinese. I don’t know any other Japanese band or singer that have songs in Chinese. Ryuta recently posted a lot of videos of him speaking in Chinese and practising Chinese. He even asked fans to help him learn. T_T

Over the rain (2008)

This is the theme song for Bloody Monday.

残像 / Zanzou (2010)

This is the theme song for Bloody Monday Season 2.

花になれ / Hana ni Nare (2008)

I love the violin in the beginning! I can’t believe this song is from 2008.

証明 / Akashi (2011)

Ashin from the Taiwanese band, Mayday, wrote this song. This is one of flumpool’s Chinese songs. There is also a Japanese version. It’s so beautiful. T_T

HELP (Chinese ver.) (2020)

This came out just a few weeks ago! The Japanese version was released in 2019. I love it.

君に届け / Kimi ni Todoke (2010)

This was the theme song for the Japanese film, Kimi ni Todoke. It’s based on a shojo manga. I think this is one of their more popular songs.

素晴らしき嘘 / Subarashiki Uso (2020)

This is a new song from 2020. I love it.

明日への賛歌 / asu heno sanka

I think this is from 2014. I love the music video so much.

OAOA (2013)

flumpool sang a Japanese cover of Mayday’s 2011 song, OAOA.

These are my favourite flumpool songs. Please give them a listen, their songs are so good.

A Love Letter to One Piece

Dear One Piece,

I admit that I did not like you when I was in elementary school. I was turned away by the art style but in my second year of university, I gave you another chance. It was completely a spontaneous decision, but it’s one of the best spontaneous decisions I’ve made.

I also believe that I did not have the maturity to understand some of the themes at a younger age. I would not have appreciated the series to the fullest extent. Some people think that anime is only for children. That is an unfortunate misconception.

While the 900+ episode count may be intimidating, I do not have to worry about “missing” the series. One Piece is always there for you when you are feeling down or bored. I’ve spent many hours watching One Piece. I had a lot of free time. Not so much now because I’m always working, but all those hours watching One Piece were well spent. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve learned so much from watching One Piece. I would love to travel, like the pirates in One Piece. I’ll work hard so that I will be able to do that. ^^

I dislike rewatching things. One Piece, however, is an exception due to how long it is. Eiichiro Oda is phenomenal at telling stories. It taught me what friendships can look like. I’ve cried numerous times and laughed so hard that my stomach hurt. Some days I feel nothing. I’ve felt everything at once when I watched One Piece.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you One Piece. Thank you Eiirchiro Oda and staff for creating such an exceptional series.

Sincerely,

Rose

The Significance of the Letter

Violet Evergarden does an amazing job of portraying the significance of writing letters and receiving them. I thought the beginning of the anime was slow, but I’m very glad I completed it. Violet Evergarden does a great job at pulling at your heartstrings. Definitely give it a watch!

I was thinking about Violet Evergarden and letters in general, then thought about the letters and cards I’ve received over the years. I actually keep the majority of them, any card or letter that contains a personal message. Some, I keep in a box in my room. The rest, I keep downstairs.

Some letters and cards are from people I am no longer in touch with. I think it’s natural to drift away from people. Then we meet new people. There is nothing strange about that. The people that were once a part of my life were there for me during my highs and lows. Their letters and cards serve as a way for me to remember them, and evidence of the good moments we shared.

I write letters. In fact, I rarely give people cards. Some people tell me that they love that I write letters. I think that it is sometimes easier to convey feelings through words. I spend a long time on my letters. I write with different coloured pens sometimes. I also decorate them with stickers and stamps. I hope that people enjoy reading my letters. ^^

Man with a Mission – Vancouver 2019 Concert

I went to a Man with a Mission concert last night and it was so much fun. The show was amazing. I first heard their song, My Hero, when I watched Inuyashiki. I loved My Hero. It was the start of my admiration for MWAM. It was their first time performing in Vancouver and also their last tour stop after a year-long tour.

If you watch anime, you may have heard their songs. They sang the theme songs for Log Horizon, The Seven Deadly Sins, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Golden Kamuy, and more. I read online that the second opening theme for the currently airing anime, Vinland Saga, is by them.

I was lucky enough to get a guitar pick… TT_TT

Blurry photo, but the guitar pick says ‘Kamikaze Boy Man with a Mission.’

My favourite songs by MWAM are:

  • Winding Road
  • Fly Again
  • Raise Your Flag
  • My Hero
  • Chasing the Horizon
  • Emotions
  • Seven Deadly Sins

You should check them out~~

Korean Film Recommendation: Always (2011)

I’m writing this immediately after I finished watching Always, because that’s how good it was. My nose is still stuffy and my eyes are still sore from crying so much. It’s also almost 1 AM.

Always-029.jpg

Synopsis: During his shift at his job as a parking lot attendant, Cheol Min is visited by Jung Hwa, a woman who is blind. She was friends with the former parking lot attendant. Cheol Min and Jung Hwa develop a friendship, which turns into something more.

So much happens in this movie and I really cannot spoil too much. This is a romance movie and they do become a couple. That’s the focus of the first part of the film. They are in a serious relationship and they intend to have children together.

Always_(Korean_Movie)-04.jpg

In the second half of the film, Cheol Min and Jung Hwa’s happy life together is disrupted. Sad events ensue, and that’s when the ugly crying happens. The film has a happy ending, which I had to make sure before I even watched it. I can’t spoil what happens, so you’ll just have to watch it.

I loved this film because one, it evoked such a strong reaction out of me. Two, because I really enjoyed watching the daily life of the two together, and the simplicity of it. Three, because of how strong their love is. I think it’s inspiring to watch a story of a couple that have such an unbreakable bond. The film was really good at producing motifs and stories that only the two of them would know.

The only major thing I would have liked to be different is that I wish they gave us some more scenes in the end. I know, I’m greedy.

Don’t get me wrong – I don’t think owning stuff makes you a “bigger” fan at all. I don’t own a ton of One Piece things but I do own quite a lot of anime things in general. I like to own anime stuff because it makes me happy. I like to see things that I like around me.

To me, being a fan of something or someone just means that you really like it. You don’t have to own merchandise, and you don’t have to know everything about the show. A word of advice: Don’t call someone a “fake fan” because that’s really rude. 🙂 Maybe you are quick to assume their love for the show, and that kind of elitism is toxic. 🙂

GUMI Megpoid Cosplay – Difficult Love/Nankai Renai

Nankai Renai is a song by GUMI, one of my favourite vocaloids. The song is about a difficult love. This was my first time expressing more sad expressions in cosplay.

I really love this cosplay. Of course, I worked with a team.

Makeup: @ayyshebitty

None of these photos are edited. I attended cosplayers Hana and Baozi’s panel on posing for cosplay the other week and they said that research is very important. Research on finding a suitable location to shoot and also expressing what the character feels in the source material. Time of day to shoot is also important, in which they recommended cosplaying in the evening.

That’s why I chose a dock as the location during a time that was not hot. I tried to replicate some of the poses from the music video, and the photographer was great with directing the shots.

The shots wouldn’t look nearly as good if it weren’t for my makeup artist! So I am very, very thankful to my team, and also to my readers for supporting me in my cosplay hobby! ^_^

Ting Mama De Hua – Jay Chou [Song quote]

watermelonnew.png

Ting Mama De Hua/ Listen to Mother’s Words is a popular song by famous mandopop artist Jay Chou.

Unfortunately I did not finish this on time for Mother’s Day (a couple of hours past) but these are important lyrics that people should follow every day.

P.S. I drew watermelons because my mom and I are going to eat the fruit tomorrow.
