I kind of forgot that I was doing Inktober until a couple of my classmates reminded me.
Day 9: Swing
I combined two things I adore: anime and literature from the 1800s. The Pit and the Pendulum is a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, one of my favourite authors. I drew Emma from the anime, The Promised Neverland. The prompt is “swing’ so that’s why I drew a pendulum. ^_^
If you’ve watched or read The Promised Neverland, the reason for Emma being the one potentially killed should make even more sense because of the anime’s premise.
Before you say anything, no, this is not the first thing that came to my mind when I read the prompt. The playground swing was the first thing that came to my mind, but I have never liked doing what everyone else does (AKA, draw the playground swing).
Day 10: Pattern
I drew baby blue eyes flowers. I am not particularly proud of this one, but it’s better than nothing.
I’m so behind, but I’m no longer prioritizing art. I’m happy that I got back into drawing but I have other hobbies as well. Blogging, for example, is something I want to do more of, specifically reviewing anime. Expect a cosplay post really soon.
Day 6: Husky
Day 7: Enchanted
I drew Princess Mansherry from One Piece. She has healing abilities.
Day 8: Frail
I drew sick Rin from the video game, Catherine: Full Body.
As you may already know, I had given up on drawing. I guess anything is possible.
I missed Day 6 but I will probably draw it sometime in the near future. Work and school life got in the way. D:
I’m hoping to focus more on cosplay, so I won’t be drawing on days I cosplay. It would be too much time and effort on my part, given the fact that my schedule is already busy as it is.
Day 4: Freeze
The petals/leaves (uh, interpret it as you will) falling and changing colours symbolize the everchanging world. This includes people too.
But sometimes you feel stuck. While everything around you is moving, you feel “frozen” in time.
This notion of feeling “frozen” came to me when I read the prompt. ^^
For those of you who don’t know what Inktober is, there a prompt list with a different theme for each day in October. It happens every year in October. Those who want to participate create a drawing every day and their drawing has to be related to that theme. Most people draw traditional art (hence the name, “Ink” October).
I decided to participate for the first time. Since I draw digitally, my Inktober drawings are digital art. I wasn’t planning on doing it this year but I got a lot of support. I gave up on drawing as a hobby for two reasons. The first was because of new hobbies (cosplay, reviewing anime, and photography) while the second reason was because I had no confidence in my drawing. The last time I drew prior to Inktober was December 2018.
I still don’t have confidence in my drawing. After Day 1, I planned on quitting. I’ve done three days of art so far, so it’ll be interesting to see how far I go.
This is the prompt list I’m following:
Day 1: Ring
Ring –> earring.
Day 2: Mindless
Day 3: Bait
The idea behind this drawing is idealization. When you idealize someone, you’ve “baited yourself.” Under their mask that YOU created of them, they may not be the person you think they are. You have a surface level understanding of them and maybe you just like the idea of them.
