What’s up?
I recently came across a poem called ‘Alone’ by Edgar Allan Poe. My favourite part is the beginning:
From childhood’s hour I have not been
As others were—I have not seen
As others saw—I could not bring
My passions from a common spring—
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow—I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone—
And all I lov’d—I lov’d alone—
I think it’s beautiful. There is some comfort in knowing that this is not a new feeling, since this poem is from the 1800s, lol. If you feel this way and other people feel this way, then are you still alone?
Anyways, has anyone tried green tea Coke? It’s a drink in Japan and I won’t be able to buy that here in Canada. I might try to make it myself by mixing green tea with Cola, but I don’t think I’ll be able to produce the same result, hahaha. I recently completed Zankyou no Terror (it’s now one of my favourite anime) and green tea was mixed with Cola.

Modern humans have existed for tens of thousands of years, and our brains haven’t changed much in that time. So, even though we sometimes think that no one’s ever felt like us, there’s no way that can be true. I guess that means we’re not as alone as we believe?

That is extremely interesting! Thanks for the info, Josh. Hmmm… Maybe we are not then.

I love the poem by Poe. He is the darkest of the romantics.

“. . .and green tea was mixed with Cola.” Was that the horror part? (Btw, did you know that Poe was largely responsible for what would come to be known as the Decadent Movement in Western literature? French writers such as Gautier and Baudelaire took up the idealization of artifice and decay, then passed it over the English writers such as Wilde and my own favorite poet, Ernest Dowson. Indeed, W. B. Yeats’ early poetry is Decadent in style, and he spoke admiringly of his Rhymers Club fellow, Dowson. . .)

Hahahaha, no the Cola part was probably one of the most wholesome parts. 😂 Oh no, I had no idea about the Decadent Movement. It’s interesting how it passed down to these writers… I like Wilde a lot. XD

I never tried green tea coke but it sounds good. Edgar Allen Poe is a great writer. I need to read some of his works. The way he writes is complicated but in depth with details.

Poe has a way of making you feel terrified when you read some of his short stories. He’s such a great writer.

He is a great writer. I haven’t read The Raven but I heard it’s a classic scare. I remember reading The Tell Tale Heart. Pretty creepy story.
