Anime I’ve Dropped

These aren’t in any particular order. I actually rarely drop shows.

Note: If you disagree with me, know that I probably won’t debate with you. I will most likely agree with your points, but it won’t really change my thoughts.

1. Aku no Hana (Flowers of Evil)

yeg1VQS

LOOK at this manga vs anime comparison. I don’t like the art in the anime. I guess it looks realistic but it doesn’t at the same time. It’s uncanny and it makes me uncomfortable. I didn’t really like the manga/plot either.

2. Blend S

88286

Slice of life does not interest me. I feel like I don’t learn anything by watching this and the plot is very flat. I don’t find the scenes funny. My sense of humour died a long time ago, I think. I KNOW that a lot of people enjoyed this series and I can understand that.

3. Hikaru no Go

I actually got somewhat far into the show until I realized that I was not really interested in Go. I did enjoy it, but I don’t think I can watch 75 episodes of this.

4. Kill La Kill

DZZlPgB

I’ve heard nothing but great things about this show. However, the weirdness of it created distance with me. Also, the outfits are ridiculous. Fan service? Maybe, probably. I’m not interested in girls fan service… at all.

5. Legendz: Yomigaeru Ryuuou Densetsu

23555

I’ve seen a lot of episodes of this show… then I realized it was stupid. I think the problem was that I was too old when I watched it. The manga was cool and I wished the anime was similar to the manga. Compare this to the manga…

6. Shokugeki no Souma (Food Wars!)

72943

Hear me out on this one. I think Food Wars! is really good, and I really like Souma. The food looks delicious and the plot is good. The main problem is… well I’m sure you can guess. I… can’t deal with it. (Yes, I’m talking about the weird sounds they make when their clothes are torn off because the food is that good.) I have to cover my eyes LOL. I know that it’s a metaphor but that doesn’t change the fact that I still feel uncomfortable.

7. Super Lovers

78450

Let’s make a few things clear. I like BL so this has nothing to do with the fact that they are both men. I know that they are not blood related so it’s not incest. I have a problem with Ren. He’s a brat and it seems like Haru is doing most of the work in their relationship. If I don’t like the main character, I have to really like the supporting characters. Unfortunately, I don’t have strong opinions on the other brothers. Also, Ren is in high school. I’m fine with age gaps but they both have to be adults for me. You can’t deny that there are romantic hints everywhere.

  1. Well I won’t debate with you, because I haven’t seen any of these lol 😂😂But that’s probably something to debate over as well haha.
Sometimes it’s good to drop things earlier. I myself never drop anime, but I usually regret that lol 😂

    • Haha I mean I am very open to hearing about other peoples’ opinions but it’s just that they probably won’t be able to convince me to change my mind. Yeah I’ve got far into two of these shows but I just realized that I didn’t want to spend hours on them if I wasn’t enjoying myself. Yeah good to avoid series though like King’s Game. Well Food Wars, Hikaru no Go, Kill la Kill and Blend S are really popular so you may like them! Everyone is different. 🙂

      • Haha, yeah King’s Game was bad….but so bad that for some really weird reason it was still a fun watch.
Hmm, I migh check them out at some point, but I have still so many amazing animes that I want to see, that it may take quite some time before I get to these.
Completely agree with you. I also love reading other people’s opinions. I always welcome them 😀😀

  2. Oh man, I felt so weird about Food Wars! as well. Those sounds… I just couldn’t get used to it, lol. I almost dropped Kill la Kill, but I was watching it with friends and honestly, I was astounded with how absolutely ridiculous and strange it was. I haven’t seen the others. I’ve gotten better about dropping things I don’t enjoy, and it’s been great!

    • That’s good to hear! These are just about the only ones I’ve dropped. I mostly put shows on hold if they don’t interest me enough, but I usually go back to them. Kill la Kill was strange, but it’s cool that it astounded you haha. 🙂

  3. Kill la Kill is one of my all time favourites, but I can’t be sad about you dropping it as it’s definitely not for everyone haha! Maybe the fact that I’m into girls and weird shows has something to do with how much I enjoyed it ;P I also watched it while I was relatively young and new to anime, so I didn’t have a lot to compare it to. I wonder whether I’d drop it if I was watching for the first time nowadays, since I reckon I have higher standards more recently…
That last one though… I don’t know anything about it but even that troubling cover art is enough to put me off! Why are unhealthy age gaps so popular? o_o

    • Ohhh it’s interesting to hear your perspective of Kill la Kill. Yeah I wonder if I would view it differently if I was new to anime… Hm… As for Super Lovers, I have no idea…………….. O_o

  4. It makes me feel better that someone else wasn’t into Kill la Kill. I watched a couple of episodes, but it wasn’t really my thing. I did find myself feeling like a hypocrite, because I didn’t like the fanservice on the main girl, but thought it was fun when the teacher kept trying to strip whenever he showed up.

    • I’m glad I made the post then! I’m glad to hear that you felt the same. 🙂 I can understand that. I don’t think you should feel like a hypocrite. The show is not for everyone. 🙂

  5. Yeah, Shokugeki no Soma is very good, and I know that the amout of fanservice can be a problem for many people.
About Hikaru no Go, I liked the anime, but the manga is one of my all-time favorites. I even started playing Go after I started the manga. I think that in the manga you get more attached to the characters and care more about what’s happening. Also, you can speed-read some parts if you want, instead of having to keep the anime’s pacing.

    • Yeah, Shokugeki no Soma had great characters, amazing art and an interesting plot. It was just that problem, but at least many people enjoy that at the same time.

I tried to learn Go after reading the manga and watching the anime but it was too complicated, lol. I was around 11 at the time so maybe that’s why. I did enjoy the manga more than the anime too.
